Professor Fikri Abu-Zidan, the head of the Trauma Group at United Arab Emirates University, is an Acute Care Surgeon who graduated (MD) from Aleppo University (Syria) in 1981 and was awarded the FRCS, Glasgow, Scotland in 1987. He achieved his PhD in Trauma and Disaster Medicine from Linkoping University (Sweden) in 1995 and obtained his Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Statistics from Massey University (New Zealand) (1999). His clinical experience included treating war injured patients during the Second Gulf War (1990). He has been promoting the use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for more than thirty years in which he is a World Leader. Furthermore, he is an international expert on trauma experimental methodology developing novel clinically relevant animal models. Establishing experimental surgical research in Auckland University, New Zealand, has led to a strong successful PhD Program.
He has made major contributions to trauma management, education and research in Kuwait, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia and UAE. He authored more than 400 publications, presented more than 600 invited lectures and abstracts, and received 38 national and international awards including the Emergency Surgeon Award (ORAZIO CAMPIONE PRIZE) of the World Society of Emergency Surgery (2020) and the Abu Dhabi Medical Research Distinction Award (2013). He has been honored last year and granted one of the first 20 long-term Golden visas for scientists in UAE to the winners and finalists of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence which was issued by the UAE Cabinet 2019. He is serving as the Statistics Editor of World Journal of Emergency Surgery and European Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Kobersy worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Washington State, US, where he became a member of the Board of Directors for the Emergency Physicians group, as well as the Assistant Medical Director for the Emergency Department.
Previously, he was an Attending Physician at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, US, where he became Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. In parallel to this, Dr. Kobersy also served as the Medical Director of Canton Medical Center. He has also served as the Medical Director of several Fire and EMS Districts in Washington.

David A. Farcy, MD is the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Director of Emergency Medicine Critical Care at
Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida.
Dr. Farcy\'s interest in medicine began as a medic in the US Air Force (in 1990); leading to a career in Emergency Medicine and
Critical Care. After graduating from Texas Tech University (1996), Dr. Farcy attended medical school at Universidad Autonoma de
Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, obtaining his Medical Degree (2000). Dr. Farcy then completed his Emergency Medicine Residency
at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York (in 2005), followed by a prestigious fellowship in Emergency Medicine/Critical
Care at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 2006, Dr. Farcy joined Mount Sinai Medical Center as an attending and served as Medical Director of the Surgical
Intensivist for seven years, pursuing his passion to educate the medical community, while being the voice of the
sick, and always striving to improve patient care. In 2012, he was appointed Chairman of the hospital’s Department of
Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Farcy is a recognized national and international speaker and author of several published medical papers and a textbook
on emergency medicine critical care. His interests are in critical care medicine, cardiac arrest, ECLS, resuscitation and disaster
medicine. “I have dedicated my career to medical education, process flow and departmental efficiency with the goal of improving
patient outcomes,” Dr. Farcy says. “I am a strong believer that communication is integral in improving and reducing medical errors
. I believe that each member of the medical team is a crucial part of the system and that a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare
is the key to improve processes to maximize patient outcomes and satisfaction.”
Dr. Farcy is currently served as President of the American Academy of Emergency (2017-2020) and he is currently the Immediate
Past President for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (2020-present) and has served on that Board of Directors since 2015.
He represents AAEM on various national committees and coalitions. Dr. Farcy has also held various leadership positions in the
Florida Chapter of AAEM (2011-present).

Dr. Carlos Torres, MD, PhD, obtained his Medical Degree at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil in 1988. He is the present Chair of the Leeds Emergency Medicine Research Group. He was Director of eLearning at the College (2005-2012) leading on the design and development of its eLearning platform, ENLIGHTENme ( which started life in Leeds in 2001) and that is now RCEMLearning.

Anwar holds a strong interest in global health, emergency medicine and international disaster medical sciences mitigation, preparedness, mass casualty response, management and recovery, quality improvement, medical education, training, certification and credentialing, and health care access inequalities. He was involved in the Large Scale Emergency Readiness (LaSER) Project at the NYU Center for Catastrophe, Preparedness, and Response. Through his work at the Center for Disaster Medical Sciences at the University of California Irvine Medical Center (UCIMC), he collaborated with his supervisors to establish a standardized global disaster, emergency medicine & public health education, training, deployment and response to disaster events at the global arena. He also devotes time to establish and develop emergency medicine, disaster medical sciences, emergency medical services (EMS), global & public health training, education, credentialing and certification in the State of Kuwait. He has a passion for cost-effective, cost-benefit & cost-utility health system information technologies (HIT), such as the adoption of international standards in electronic health records (EHR) applications, virtual reality (VR), augmented intelligence (AI), telehealth, and among many other solutions & services, of which, has assisted to adopt and incorporate into the health system at the State of Kuwait.
Anwar obtained his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) in Ireland. He then moved to the United States to pursue clinical training in emergency medicine. Anwar completed his training at the New York University (NYU) / Bellevue Residency Program in Emergency Medicine, and is presently a diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). He then pursued subspecialty training in International Disaster Medical Sciences / Emergency Medicine Services (EMS) at the University of California Irvine Medical Center (UCIMC) where he served as a Fellow. During his time in California, he also obtained a Master Degree in Public and Global Health at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).
He holds memberships at various professional organizations, including the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). He is also the international emergency medicine ambassador of (ACEP) to the State of Kuwait. Anwar has helped to establish the Kuwait Board of Emergency Medicine (KBEM) & Telehealth System (Tele-medicine / Tele-trauma). His long term project, vision & mission is to establish the Unfired Command System in Disaster Management (UCSDM) at the State of Kuwait
He currently lives Kuwait, enjoys various water sports and other outdoor activities.
